Chimpan A is a project initially conceived by Rob Reed (Magenta, Trippa), but it soon took on a whole life of it's own. With Steve Balsamo (The Storys, plus appearances with artists such as David Gilmour, Roger Daltry, and Robert Plant) and Rob Thompson (The Storys), this debut CD is a masterpiece. THE OTHELLO SYNDROME are British band from Wales. Their core comprises of duet: Paul Kadman (lead vocals, bass, keyboards, vocal characatures(sic!)) and Martin Rosser (backing Vocals, keyboards, vocal emulations), reinforced by their former labelmates (from British f2 music label) - Rob Reed (of CYAN, MAGENTA and CHIMPAN A) on keyboards and Tim Robinson (of THE FYREWORKS, CYAN and MAGENTA) on drums. Ian Bailey (saxophone) also contributed on their album. The aforementioned Rob Reed was the producer of their debut (and the only album so far). There were rumours band is working on the follow-up album, but no details had been announced yet. The band resembles VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR in style in several ways, including the saxophone sections, darkish organ and Kadman's vocal which is somewhat similar to HAMMILL's. Rob Reed is adding a flavour of GENESIS to the overall picture of the band. Apart from VDGG and GENESIS, the traces of MARILLION could also be found; in general, they sound as a vintage progressive rock band with touches of 80's keyboards and 90's (heavier) guitar, making an eclectic, dramatic and interesting variety in their music.
